11 Activities Young Internationals in Montreal must Try this June!
Summer in Montreal is beautiful but sooo short, you absolutely NEED to do the most asap! Don't waste a day inside and go out there, make new friends and enjoy the sunny and hot days in the city. Without delay, here are our top 11 activities to do this month for all international students, interns, and PVTistes located in Montreal. You'll thank us later ;)
June 2nd: Opening night at the Village au Pied-du-Courant
Here's your chance to discover a different city view you most probably never saw before and therefore, amazing new pictures to add to your Montreal's album! There's going to be a Dj for the occasion, food, cocktails and great new features like the "beach cabanas" and a museum. Free entrance. Located close to the Papineau metro station. More info here.
June 3rd: Montreal Food trucks First Fridays
The largest Food trucks gathering in Canada! First Fridays is an event taking place every year in Montreal. It takes place every first Friday of the month between May and October at the Olympic Park, on the Esplanade Financière Sun Life from 4 pm to 11 pm. Free entrance for everyone.
June 5th: Interstude goes to Piknic Electronik
Have you ever heard of the Piknic Electronik at Parc Jean-Drapeau?! A must-go summer activity in Montreal open to everyone, every Sunday from May to October. If you've never experienced this event of live DJs and fun, here's your unique chance to go with our Dream Team! June 10th to 12th: Montreal Grand Prix F1
You might have heard of Formula 1 and their races taking place in a different location all over the world. Well, Montreal is very proud to be the only city in North America to welcome the F1 Grand Prix for a weekend. Either you're a race car fan or not, you will certainly entertain yourself during this exciting weekend with activities on Crescent Street, in Old Montreal and directly on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Parc Jean-Drapeau). June 15th: BBQ & Summer Chilling with Interstude at Parc Lafontaine
Bring your volleyball, football, frisbee or anything else to celebrate summer in the company of young internationals from 19 to 30 years old (PVTistes, interns, international students, travelers, etc). A perfect opportunity to meet new people in Montreal. The interstude team will have a BBQ available for the gathering, just bring your food and drinks! Starting at 6:00 PM next to the volleyball court of the Lafontaine Park. More info here.
June 16th to 19th: A taste of the Caribbean
Montreal is well known for his multiculturalism and the city is proud to show it as much as possible with festivals, parades and events like this one. Taste Of The Caribbean (TOTC) is Quebec’s premier Caribbean cultural event. A four-day cultural feast of food, music, and arts from over 20 Caribbean nations including Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Cuba and many more! Don't forget your sunglasses!
June 17th: Opening night of Les Jardineries
As mentioned earlier, do not stay a day inside when it's shining bright outside and there's so much to be seen and done in Montreal! On Friday, June the 17th, Les Jardineries (a project from La Pépinière&co) will officially open to the public at 6:00 PM with an amazing night full of free activities. Mainly an urban garden, Les Jardineries will present local artists and performances in a festive atmosphere (including a Biergarten!). More info here.
June 18th: Spend a day at LaRonde!
La Ronde is an amusement park part of the Six Flags family, located on St-Helen's Island (easily accessible by metro). La Ronde offers amusement for all ages, roller coasters fans or not, you will for sure, enjoy your day at this park! P.S.: Wear your swimsuit underneath your clothes as some of the rides involve some "splash".
June 24th: National Day in Quebec city with Interstude!
Now, there is no way you don't know about this very special day in the Quebec province. The Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day on June 24th! If it's your first "St-Jean" in the province you MUST go to the capital to celebrate it as to be! And even if it's not your first St-Jean here, a visit to the capital is absolutely required. June 23rd to 26th: The Great Montreal Poutinefest
Because we take very seriously our Poutine all over the province, a festival was more than necessary! After its wildly successful edition last year, PoutineFest is back in Montreal from June 23rd to June 26th. More info here.
June 30th: Independence Day in NYC with Interstude!
As you probably know, Independence Day in the United States of America is one of the biggest, if not THE biggest celebration of the year all over the country.
