Here are our insights to help you make the most of your stay in one of the greatest cities in the world.
1. Hook Up With A Local
Show us your wild side and go kiss a local, a real Québécois(e). Doing this semester abroad will change you for the rest of your life. Seeing a local for a couple of weeks will definitely put the cherry on top of the sundae and make you fully understand the culture of the city where your life changed.
2. Have A Typical American Brunch
Brunch (breakfast-lunch) is very American. Montrealers LOVE brunch and the best place in town is by far L’Avenue du Plateau. They are known for their Eggs Benedict. This place is extremely popular so you should go before 10AM on weekends or anytime during the week if you don’t want to wait an hour in line outside.
3. Try as many Food trucks as possible!
Montreal’s dynamism, creativity and colourfulness can be rivaled only by its Streetfood culture. It is now common knowledge that Streetfood trucks resurfaced in the streets of Montreal after having been banned in 1947. Montreal has acquired its reputation as a gastronomic destination thanks to its lifestyle and a festive and friendly atmosphere, and the food trucks quickly become key ambassadors making this reputation even stronger.
4. Be A Local And Try One Of Our Microbreweries
Montreal is known for having good and divers Microbreweries. We suggest you to go to the Brouhaha and try their famous Poutiflette, a mix of Poutine and Tartiflette. You should match your Poutiflette with the Dartagnan, a nice lager beer. Other awesome microbreweries to experience in Montréal are Le Cheval Blanc and Dieu du Ciel.
5. Embrace The Sunrise From the Mont-Royal Belvedere
You probably heard about it and maybe have already experience it, the Mont-Royal Belvedere offer an unique view of one of the best cities in the world. But you’ve never experienced it fully unless you experience it at sunrise. Get out of bed and make your way to the top of the mountain before the sun comes up, or pull an all-nighter. It’s worth it.
